Dear Friends of Ignite:

Thank you for all you do to help Ignite meet and exceed our mission. Your passion and commitment to make the world a better place through us is what makes Ignite shine.

I am writing today because one of our volunteers, who will remain anonymous, has been thinking about what they could do to help support our building fund. In July they read the Shepherd’s Lantern on the Ignite website (https://igniteadaptivesports.org/pete-dunigan-and-the-shepherds-lantern/) and were inspired to match Pete and Sue’s gift to the building fund.

They thought, they processed, and then they hit upon the perfect way to accomplish this: they donated to Ignite a portion of their RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) from their IRA! Since this self-proclaimed“Geezer” had to take their RMD (*according to the IRS you generally have to start taking withdrawals from your IRA, SIMPLE IRA, SEP IRA, or retirement plan account when you reach age 72), they used that to match the $10,000 gift from Pete and Sue!

This creative and clever Geezer asked me to share their story so that they might inspire others to meet the challenge.

On behalf of our volunteers, athletes, and community, thank you for considering a donation to our building fund. Just as the white tip of a Border Collie’s tail is the Shepherd’s Lantern, Ignite’s family of supporters are getting us closer to our home on the mountain.

Together, with you, and generous Geezers, we are Changing Lives.

Happy and Healthy Holidays to you and yours,

Carol Nickell

Executive Director
